Re: Compare text files (or sources)

My order of preference for text diff's.
1. WinMerge
2. Notepad++ plugin, x64 preferred, x86 fails on larger files.
3. Fossil, quick and dirty comparisons but most often trigger WinMerge.
4. git is too heavy but similar to Fossil.

There are many other tools, but these suffice.

Whoa! Strokes are no joke. Our life programs all have a few bugs in them. I just wish we knew the coder a little better. :)
Stay well netmaestro!

Re: Modern Splitter Gadget with PureBasic

Looks nice!
There is weird behavior at the extremes. Like pulling the splitter to the bottom.
The splitter disappears and cannot recover.

Re: Why the type LONG work differently in x86 and x84 complier?

Regardless of x86 or x64, you should know the size of your variables. I use this cheat sheet. Maybe we can expand the data types with v6  Structure ScanAllTypes ;-!PB Datatypes ; Allows 1 Define for all datatypes to be scanned. ; Define *p.ScanAllTypes = @somevariable or *somememory ; Consider...

Re: Change table designation in sqlite

Is this a one-time fix? Meaning, can you load the database in DB Browser for SQLite and make your edits manually? Else, the programmatic approach is to create your desired DB and tables, then walk through the original DB AS ATTACHED with SELECT's and UPDATE's into new DB. Your example is confusing s...

Re: [Done] Need ClearArray() command

That does not handle string arrays and C optimizer performance is what counts.

Are you sure Bool = byte?
Always compare sizeof(struct) in both languages.

Re: Run second sqlite query before finishing the previous query?

As mentioned, you can do a lot with better SQL logic. You could create temp tables in memory from sequential queries and then make your final select. Or massage your original table design to support your most frequent queries. Example, you always add col a,b,c, then make a sumcol. Extreme data norma...

Re: PureBasic 6.00 Alpha 5 released !

Given optimization with gcc and other compilers outperform PB's asm, this is not a high priority for me.
The non-x86 platforms are upon us now. RaspberryPI and many flavored ARM based mini-computers open up a large market and low cost deployment for ioT.

We do have to back out any ASM code before selecting the C compiler.
Are there any other big syntax changes?

Re: PureBasic vs B4J

RAD means Rapid Application Development. VB6 was considered RAD because its form editor and IDE produced live code and "edit and continue" if making changes on the fly. I would put PB in the DRA, Develop Rapid Applications, bucket. The PB form editor is not as fluid as VB6 but is also not ...

Buy both
Look through the canvasgadget examples in the forum. Else, the gui elements are cut and dry.
The business app world is wide open so not sure where to direct.
Database access is quite smooth in PB.
