Re: [Minor request] Compiler counts useless lines

Comments are code too. How did they get in your source code?

Re: Then statement for ONLY single line IFs

It is best to pick a boring way to code and stick with it.
This means never multiple lines on 1 line.
No multiple ways of creating and closing conditionals.

Forget about convenience and think of debugging errors and automated code.
Simplifying syntax improves automation and reduces errors.

Re: Advertising banner on Purebasic Forum

Fred, using desktop browser like Chrome, the banner is in the footer and like before.
But on mobile phone, the ads are very dominant and in your face.

Yes, but Pelles is limited to x86_x64.
The reason for transpile to C is to support ARM and other uprocessors.

I am more concerned with ticks and mosquitoes than sniffles.

Re: How to take screenshot of second monitor?

Yes, the PB Desktop commands worked for me. I have 3 monitors stacked like this:

Code: Select all

[ 3 ] <-- external monitor, 100%DPI
[ 2 ] <-- external monitor, 100%DPI
 [1] <-- laptop, 125%DPI

Re: How to take screenshot of second monitor?

Try omitting the device\StateFlags check and change @device\DeviceName[0] to PeekS(@device\DeviceName[0],32). Not sure if it helps i have a multi-monitor setup and for me the code works fine - so i cant really do much. Where does it hang exactly? Yes, I tried that initially but no love. That's why ...

Re: Removing the "Remote debugging" feature from the debugger

Long time no hear Luis! I respect your opinions and code. Can you elaborate on your visceral reaction to this informal survey? As mentioned above, I am in the camp of dropping remote debugging to usher in v6 and a more fluid IDE. I have the luxury of installing PB on whatever target machine I deploy...

Re: Removing the "Remote debugging" feature from the debugger

I vote for simplicity and remove this feature in the IDE debugger.
I never had occasion to use this feature.
PB has allowed me to debug on all target-type machines.

Curious, it does not work with my 3 monitor setup?
I can only grab the laptop main desktop, 0.

Re: List vs Map when searching for duplicate files

Maps can locate an element with a given key in O(log(n)) time whereas you always need O(n) time with lists. That's exactly the reason why you use lists. The function Str() is very fast and you simply can assume it runs in a constant time. Btw.: Why are you looking for the element with a given Size ...

Re: Blog post !

Tremendous news!
ARM deployment is the cherry on top. 8)

I have 75k lines with most app's, so I can live with 10-20sec compiles.
Many supporting apps and utilities are much shorter.
I'm more interested in the compiled performance after the wait.
