Hi PureBasic Amigans, and other OS's coders
I'm new to PureBasic and you may can answers some Amiga related questions :?:

1.How compatible is the sourcecode compared to the newer Purebasic for Win/lin/mac?

2.Is 3d on Amiga functional? warp,rtg? - (i just did a quick look to the doc's  )

3. will there be a new version someday? (maybe Aros/OS4?)

Don't be shy - THX

1. Not much IMHO, the build in functions are very old.

2. No

3. Probably not, all is written in 68x00 assembly on amiga.

I had pestered Fred for ages for an AmigaOS 4 version of PureBasic, but nothing ever happened. I was even going to offer a donation of an AmigaOne with AmigaOS 4.0 to try and help kickstart development, but sadly further development of PureBasic for the Amiga seems to be pretty much abandoned. :(

I would still love to get a native AmigaOS 4 version of PureBasic (hint hint @Fred  )

Kind regards,

Francis

As i said, all the libs are written in 680x0 assembly, which makes them unusable on recent Amiga. If it was a recompile problem, i would may be do it, but here, it's a complete lib rewrite, which is too much for the very small audience.

I can completely understand your position Fred. Although I would love to get a native OS4 version of PureBasic, I'm not expecting it to come.

Kind regards,

Francis

@Fred
Maybe you would re-think when Hyperion publish AmigaOS for other/newer hardware?
Chances are that a port could be done from mac/linux/win sources
ok, hyperion has to publish first - who knows what they will bring to us
i don't bother as i see your pov - but i had to ask that

At last a present possibility...
How about Aros?
It is x86 and a port shouldn't be a hard task(at least from linux/mac sources)
If you don't know allready - here's the dev.forum with link's to all you may want to know

Tero

From a commerical point of view there may be little life left in the good ol' Amiga, perhaps sadly enough...

Oh well... <starting up an emulator and going another few rounds at SWIV> at least the games are preserved :-)

Unless you want PB produce GTK or Carbon based apps, i don't see why it should be easy to do the port ;). It would takes really a lot of time.

GTK and SDL is available in AROS
btw: AROS is API-compatible to Amiga, but i guess that doesn't count for ASM :(
There are some people not going to code for aros cause C is too hard or LUA-scripting isn't suitable for their tasks - so PB would be very nice addition
(did i say that before? )
Amiga community is a small one and Aros community even smaller, but it's slowly growing because of the full Amiga-experience on low-price hardware.

Sadly there is not much money to earn ( yet, i hope),

OK, i stop begging now - promise

Damn! I just purchased an Amiga 1200 with 68030/68882 turbo card, just only to hear that Amiga development has been ceased...
Was Amiga version of PB not open source? Maybe the Amiga community can develop it further?

IIRC the libraries and tools are open source but the compiler is not since too much of the compiler code was the same as the non open sourced versions (Windows / Linux / Mac).
