Manual for PureBasic

Post by Warren Sugden »

I have just come across PureBasic and am anxious to learn to use it.

Although I have usedv Viual Basic v5 for some years now, it does not offer any assistance to using PureBasic.

Can anyone refer me to a manual suitable for a new user.

Best PureBasic book ever. It's also the only book on PureBasic ever published. :)

I thought that too, but somebody corrected me in another thread. There was
previously a book published that was written for PureBasic game programming.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

Help -> Help from the IDE shows the reference. Before starting you should read "Getting Started", "Editing Features", "Compiling your programs", "General syntax rules", "variables types and operators" and "Purebasic objects overview".

I know there was some game programming bundle sold in Germany way back. Maybe it was part of that.

The first book was the "Programming 2D Scrolling Games with Purebasic".
I have this book and to my opinion it is a very good book.
Check its website

and the following document is from the horses' mouth, covering PB up to 4.30:

http://www.purebasic.com/documentation/PureBasic.pdf

with over 700 pages it is the most current and extensive documentation, basically it is the entire help file in a hyper-linked PDF format.
cheers,
