I have already installed the latest directx updates.

i now found out by using a directshow include for purebasic that the same problem happens unless i change the render from #VMR7 to #VMR9, if this is the reason then i would like to know how to choose the default render for other applications that use mci or the movie lib. I am using K-Lite codec pack but i only see an option to chose a render for mpc player but not system wide.

I have now completely removed K-Lite codec pack but the same problem is still there.
