Installing on Mandrake

Post by Haplo »

Hi,

First may I wish everyone a Happy New Year :)

I have decided to try out Linux after years of windows and I have decided to initially go with Mandrake as it is new user friendly. That said I have only had it for one day but I am struggling somewhat.

Would any kind soul take the time to explain step by step how to install Purebasic onto linux. For instance when you download it, which directory should you download it to? I bring up a terminal window and su to give root shell and type in cp purebasic/compilers/pbcompiler /usr/bin/ but I get 'cp: cannot stat `purebasic/compilers/pbcompiler': No such file or directory
[root@localhost andy]#'

I assume it's because I extracted to '/home/andy/Desktop/'

I am sorry if this is a very stupid request but as I said I am very new to Linux :)

type : sudo su

enter your root password, and try coping and performing the installation instructions.
