Both the PDF and HTML versions appear to be gone.
Is there another tutorial anywhere that might help a neophyte with both PureBasic and Ubuntu to get PB installed and working?

There was not much response to this tutorial all over. Only here in the english board I got some feedback.
Due to the fact I'm currently not working with PureBasic and have some changes regarding my real life, I decided to wipe my webspace.
The tutorial is both in PDF and HTML still on my harddisk. If one wants to make it public, just contact me.

Awww bembulak I'm sorry for you ~_~
But when I installed PureBasic it was a simple one-liner:
tar xvzf purebasic.tgz --directory=/usr/share/; apt-get -y install libgtk2.0-dev libsdl1.2-dev libsdl1.2debian-oss; ln -s /usr/share/purebasic/compilers/pbcompiler /usr/bin/pbcompiler; ln -s /usr/share/purebasic/compilers/fasm /usr/bin/fasm; ln -s /usr/share/purebasic/compilers/purebasic /usr/bin/purebasic; purebasic
...well simple needs to be specified by the reader ^_^

90% of the Linux users here know that. Oh, we're f***ing geeks and nerds.
But take a look, how often the topic "how to install Purebasic on Linux" came up here... (and in other forums).
No need to be sorry. Everythings seems good so far. Found *the secret*.

Thank you very much! I just installed PB 4.20 on Ubuntu 8.04 (A old AMD Athlon XP 1800+ /768 Mb), it works fine now. The Tutorial was exactly what I need, I'm a Linux newbie! Before I found this tutorial, I wanted to wipe the Linux and Install Win2K or ReactOS, but now...

I followed your Install very carefully; PB did NOT work.
The reason was: my Linux was a 64-bit Red Hat. At this point in time there is no version of PB that runs on a 64-bit OS.
I installed the 32-bit Red Hat and all went well.
Perhaps you will like to mention this in your Install.
Thank you

Does anyone have a copy of the pb_unbuntu.pdf since the source web site
http://bembulak.bas-x.de/files/pb_ubuntu.pdf is no longer available. I really would like to have a copy to help me install purebasic on ubuntu 8.04. My email is
rfsx15@comcast.net. Thanx! Richard in Michigan.

Thanks for this quick guide. Faultless.
First time out with a Linux distro, boy, it is somewhat different to Windows!
Can I ask how I persuade Ubuntu how to open the PB IDE when I double-click a .pb file?
