Tabs, not spaces.

Post by matthew180 »

Greetings,

Just a quick request: how about a preference that keeps tabs as tabs instead of converting them to spaces? Personally I do not like using spaces to create indentation, and if not for that, I'd be happy as a clam using the PB Editor.

spaces are used so that formatting the code from editor to editor is cleaner and there will be no mis-alignment. code gets larger but helps in documenting.

i understand your point but i'm still a space supporter... ;)

The new IDE (see announcement) will have this feature.
Good programmers don't comment their code. It was hard to write, should be hard to read.

Oh no! We implemented a feature that peolpe were asking for! What a sad day...

Why do you care? Nobody forces you to use it.

lol freak!, hehe..
By the way, do you know if GPI will add "guide lines" .. I mean, when you open an IF statement, at the ide background there should be a line which goes directly to the ENDIF of that statement, which helps A LOT (in php for example).. Sometimes I feel like I need that in japbe.. well.. its already free and its the best ide I've seen.. so I cant be sad

If the official IDE gets as good as jaPBe.. then i'll start using it.

It does that since at least half a year ;)

Preferences -> Style/Editor -> "Indent Guide" and "Show Indent Guides"

i think that would be great.
i use editplus text editor to write pb codes then i open a source file using pb editor & save.. all tab chars are gone.

I think that the new editor (due any day now) will have the ability to use real tabs. Keep checking for the beta.... :)
