Two things, actually:
First: In 5.50 x86 the form designer using windows 8 style doesn't display a maximize gadget on the window frame when the maximize option disabled. Windows 8 however does display a grayed one then.
Second: Same platform, when closing the preferences with 'Ok' or after 'Applying' the form designer window is closed if it was opened non-panel window style before.
