The existing Sciter customers are showing us great examples of what can be done. So, for enhancing PB Apps User Interface, I think Sciter is the best solution.
+1 from me, too.

I alredy wrote a PM to Fred, telling him how much I would pay for it.

I understood the reason for your question. :-)
And I am also curious to know the answer.

What's all the fuss about webkit being 40mb? That's a sub 10sec download and little more than a speck on a modern drive. It's like a discussion from a different era. I would rather have something standards compliant (not least because it's compatible with SpiderBasic) and I'll do my best to live with the fact it takes a couple of seconds longer to download.

Hello @ all!

+1 for sciter when alternative is no solution!

Living with TIScript is far better than having no ui solution at all.

No time frame, I will probably give it a try when 5.70 will be out.

I've just come across https://github.com/zserge/webview which seems quite interesting too (and super tiny).

Examples at https://github.com/zserge/webview/tree/master/examples

so, it's not really an alternative...

This also sounds interesting! But it is tiny because it uses the OS webbrowser (IE/WebKit libs etc). So it is comparable to the WebGadget of PureBasic.

I'm currently developing a module for cross platform usage of Sciter (quite complex native API :o ) and making progress. As far as it gets more stable, I will post it in the forum. Sadly I do not have much time to stay on it but maybe in a few weeks...

I tried for a few days now but sadly I do not manage to use the provided Sciter DLL/SO/DYLIB in a cross platform way using PureBasic. While it seems possible on Windows using the DLL like in example 2 here, this seems impossible on Linux and OSX. The libs there behave different and I do not know how to work with it correctly.

Finally, I think we won't really be able to use the functions without a suitable wrapper in C++ to give us more convenient access to the functions. If someone is skilled enough and willing to do such, I'd be happy to test and support.

Of course, some native PB interface to Sciter would be the best solution of all.

Just in case, I've published new Sciter based application: https://html-notepad.com

Image

Consider it as a demo of what can be done in principle with Sciter.

I'm getting requests for a 'UI Makeover', so came to this thread to follow the discussion. Sciter does look like a promising solution, so if PB can support this directly then I'm interested and willing to contribute financially.
