Looking for a good name for a website?

Hi,

I'm racking what's left of my brains here; looking for a decent domain name for a site through which I shall place some of my software, particularly some projects still under development. I'd rather have the site ready before the software is ready for release etc.

I'd rather a .com name.

All of my 'good' ideas have been nabbed already! Grrrrr.... :? and I'm running out of ideas!

Any suggestions gratefully received. A softwareish type name is what I'm after!

If you've a few moments and some good ideas then please send them this way. One of you guys has the killer name I'm looking for locked up in your brains!

(No porn type names please, -that's for another day! )

Thanks.

softwareish.com seems to be free.

But seriously, I know what you are saying, I checked a few straight of the top of my head and they are all gone. Will try some more, if I get lucky I'll post them for you.

:)

www.alphabyteix.com is available, but... uhm, maybe not! That's the sort of thing that my befuddled mind is conjuring up right now!
I think I'll go and down a few bottles of ale - that should get the creative juices flowing! Probably all over the kitchen floor though!

srodsoft.com seems to be free :)
But why not stick to purecoder.net?

EDIT: srodbyte.com, srodware.com, rodriguez-software.com?

I don't have a very good hosting service for purecoder.net; just the basics. It's cheap and I really only use it as a repository for a lot of maths stuff that I sell.

No, I need a new hosting package and so I thought I'd go all out and register a new domain to go with it. Something I could perhaps use as a company name etc.

Humorous, serious, professional, ...? What kind of atmosphere are you trying to project? Retro, modern, ...? What are you going to put on your website? Just software? Blog? Forum? Tech Hints & Tips?

I've always found that it helps to think about what you're trying to say to your visitors and then go from there.

completely agree to Xombie....

first think of what you want to present... what "feeling".

contra example:
look_like_a_mule_but_not_a_complete_ass.com
would surely be avaliable, but not what you want. ;)

look_like_a_mule_but_not_a_complete_ass.com
That's better than the ideas I've come up with thus far! :)

@Xombie, good questions. A professional site with shareware, freeware and perhaps room for some tutorials as well. No blogs. The more I think about it, the happier I am that I haven't rushed ahead and purchased the first likely looking domain name.

On the other hand, www.look_like_a_mule_but_not_a_complete_ass.com does have a nice ring to it!

Yes, I was thinking of something like that; although http://www.sodoff.com would be better!

I may well end up with something like http://www.srod-soft.com though.

Thanks.
