In my current project I have to deal with thousands of entities that I need to be able to select with the mouse. I could keep an approximate list. This would reduce the number in the selectable object list. But I want to be able to select all. So I'm looking for a way to give the entity a pointer to structure data. But I haven't found it yet. Now I thought maybe you could use bones. You can give them an identifier as a string. Can I make a pointer out of such a string?
