Because the EXE is packed.

Is there a way to get it to not kick on on DLL creation?
When it compresses dll's - they end up not being usable (at least, that's what I'm seeing here)

Iirc the UPX docs, some PE (exe or DLL) can't be compressed.
You may have to try different settings.
Also try to use UPX directly to see if it works better.

I have found that sometimes my exe is invalid, so I switch the scrambler types and then the exe loads.
so when I do "build all" -- I need to remember to go back to restore the dll's backup. The dll hasn't worked compressed with pureupx.... hence, the query about enabling on a per file basis...

Update

I have repacked the executable to avoid Malware / Virus alarms...

I get a Resource Not Found error when I try to download PureUPX. Is there a reason it's no longer available or is there an alternate source to download it from?

Adding a 'Purevalid signature' is disabled by default.
If the PureValid library is installed, you will see an extra PureValid section when you start PureUPX.
You may still disable this feature by unckecking 'Add PureValid signature to compressed EXE' in the 'PureValid' tab (or add 'PureValidSignature = 0' in PureUPX.ini).

Hiho,

the link at the first post doesn't work anymore. Is it still up to date to use it?

Thanks in advance
